Dana White corrects Rebney, says they have no problem
First, Tyson Nam got released by Bellator.
Then Bellator allowed champion Eduardo Dantas to fight in Brazil, and he ended up losing there to Nam. This made Nam a hot fighter, and several organizations wanted to sign him.
Then Bellator exercised a contractual right to match offers for 18 months after the end of the contract. Nam complained loudly.
Then Dana White said doing that was
one the scummiest, most despicable things in the fight business.
Then Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said
Dana was being hypocritical, as the UFC had done the same thing to him previously, trying to match King Mo's Bellator offer after Strikeforce releasing him following a failed PED test, and outburst over a CSAC commissioner.
Finally, Dana said no we didn't do the same thing, but Rebney is usually an OK guy.
Dana White @danawhite
not true, we cut king mo and his manager came back to us and asked If WE wanted to match and we said no. Reb is wrong
the right is in the contract but when u cut a guy u dont fuck with him when he is trying to make a living. Bad s---
it's dirty as u can get in the fight biz to do that to a guy
Gavin Frost @GAvinFrost361
what do you think about bjorn rebney?
Dana White @danawhite
I don't have an opinion one way or the other. Has been a quiet guy doing his thing. I have no problems with him.
Bellator ended up not matching the best offer Nam received, so this is one where it all ends well.
