UFC 150 – Jake Shields vs. Ed Herman announced for August 11th fight card in Denver

The UFC 150 main card is filling up fast this week after it was announced former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Jake Shields would take on “Ultimate Fighter” season three runner-up, Ed Herman on August 11th in Denver, Colorado.

The news was announced via the Las Vegas based promotions official website. Bout agreements have likely been signed and returned at this point in time. This will mark Shields return to 185 pounds after four fights at welterweight.

Shields has struggled to make his mark inside the octagon, going 2-2 in his four fights with wins over Martin Kampmann and Yoshihiro Aikyama and defeats at the hands of Georges St. Pierre and Jake Ellenberger.

Herman has been on a tear since returning from a long-standing injury and has put together a three-fight winning streak with victories over Tim Credeur, Kyle Noke and Clifford Starks.

Herman has been on a hell of a roll from what I recall, unless I've missed a bad fight since I've been up in AK which is very possible.

No Misfit, Herman is still on a three fight win streak, but have to say that while Shields may be 2-2 in his last four, he's fought much higher caliber fighters in his career, and while I think Herman gives him a strong challenge, just think Jake should take this one by virtue of his edge in experience with big fights and better fighters.

I agree Mu, just saying Herman isn't the walk over that many of us thought in the past. He's looked great on the ground and I think he can actually make this a fight.

It's a fight Herman could win. but I just don't see him doing so. Shields will have too much for him in this one.
