Vinny Magalhaes vs. Igor Pokrajac slotted for UFC 152 in Toronto

Vinny Magalhaes (9-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) appears to have an opponent for his UFC return.

Fresh off the news "The Ultimate Fighter 8" runner-up and M-1 champion has re-signed with the promotion, he's now slated to fight fellow light heavyweight Igor Pokrajac (25-8 MMA, 4-3 UFC) at UFC 152.

Sportsnet's Canadian reporter Joe Ferraro first reported the matchup. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) subsequently confirmed it.

UFC 152 takes place Sept. 22 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

It's not clear where Magalhaes vs. Pokrajac will be placed on the lineup.

Since a 0-2 stint in the UFC, which included a loss to Ryan Bader in the "TUF 8" tournament final and a subsequent defeat to Eliot Marshall, Magalhaes has racked up a 7-1 record outside the organization. Half the jiu-jitsu specialist's fights came in M-1, where he won the organization's 205-pound title before a strained relationship with company officials.

The Brazilian now fights for the first time since October when he meets Pokrajac, a Croatian fighter who started his UFC career with a pedestrian 1-3 record. However, he's since scored knockout wins over Todd Brown and Krzysztof Soszynski, as well as a recent decision victory over Fabio Maldonado at UFC on FUEL TV 3.

The latest UFC 152 card now includes:

    • Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson - for inaugural flyweight title
    • Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann
    • Rory MacDonald vs. B.J. Penn
    • Vinny Magalhaes vs. Igor Pokrajac*
    • Marcus Brimage vs. Jim Hettes

I really like vinny , sick ground game! I like the fight also , striker vs grappler , vinny can strike too but not at the level of pokrajac , i see vinny's wrestling skill's getting this to the ground and a 1st round submission win for vinny.

Funny enough Vinny is one of the few Brazilians I couldn't care less for.

I didn't know he was at 205lbs. He needs to move down if he loses to Igor.

I think he has his hands full here. Unless his striking has really improved.

Not too much. I watched his last title defense in M-1 and he was getting picked apart in the striking department for a few rounds. The head kick is caught his opponent with was a bit of a hail mary. You should watch it when you get the chance.

So he seems to be in for a beating.

Probably. He's probably going to stand with Igor and if he doesn't get knocked down in the first round no doubt his only goal after that would be to take Igor down.
