Undefeated British light heavyweight prospect, Jimi Manuwa signs with the UFC

Undefeated British light heavyweight and current UCMMA champion, Jimi Manuwa has reportedly accepted amulti-fight contract to fight under the Ultimate Fighting Championship banner, with his first fight likely to come on the UFC on FUEL TV 5 card set for September 2th in Nottingham, England.



The news comes via Fighters Only Magazine after speaking to sources close to the situation. MMABay.co.uk has since confirmed the news to be true. Manuwa turned down the opportunity to sign with the Las Vegas based promotion in the past because he had been absent from competition for a prolonged period of time and wanted to shake any ring-rust.

Manuwa brings with him an 11-0 record to the octagon with ten wins coming by way of TKO or KO and the other ending via guillotine choke. Nine of his eleven career wins have ended in the very first round. Stay tuned to MMABay for news on who he’ll face on his octagon debut as we get it.

UFC inks light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa for UFC on FUEL TV 5


Undefeated light-heavyweight prospect Jimi Manuwa (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC.

UFC officials and Manuwa today announced the signing, though exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Nigerian-English fighter is expected to make his promotional debut at UFC on FUEL TV 5, which takes place in England in September.

UFC on FUEL TV 5 is set for Sept. 29 at Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England. The main card airs live on FUEL TV (Saturday afternoon in the U.S.) following prelims on Facebook. It's not clear where Manuwa, who awaits an opponent, will end up on the lineup.

Manuwa launched his pro career in 2008 with just three weeks of training. However, he's breezed through competition with 11 stoppages victories (nine in the first round) in 11 career fights. All of the wins but one have come via knockout/TKO.

Manuwa, the reigning UCMMA 205-pound champ, most recently scored a TKO victory over Anthony Rea at BAMMA 8 in December.

This past year, Manuwa told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com) he turned down a previous UFC contract offer due to a lack of experience and an assortment of injuries.

He's Strong as an oxe! Has good hands , very powerful. It remains to be seen if he chokes on his first appearance. Che mill's is a talent but he took his time , he looked horrible at the start , now he is showing what ive been seeing for years. Hopefully the nerves dont get to jimmy , they shouldnt with it being a small event , it's the las vegas cards that test the nerves. Such big events. I see the u.k guys doing pretty well on this card.

Gotcha, my biggest concern which is getting less and less each year is the lack of wrestling in the UK camps.
