Fedor Emelianenko Refuses To Rule Out Fighting Brock Lesnar

Newly retired Heavyweight MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko spoke to HDNet's Inside MMA last night to explain the reasoning behind his decision and talk about what might convince him to come out of retirement too. Fedor retired after shellacking Pedro Rizzo in the first round at their bout on the M-1 Global: "Fedor vs. Rizzo" card in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 21, 2012.

That win gave him a nice 3-fight-win-streak (Rizzo, Jeff Monson, Satoshi Ishii) to go out on after losing 3-straight against Dan Henderson, Antonio Silva and Fabricio Werdum to end his Strikeforce run. Let's see what he had to say to Inside MMA after the jump...

He explained his decision to retire in terms of family:
"I've got daughters, and they're growing up without me. This is very, very difficult for me. Family is always first place for me, so this is the time.
"People will accept my decision. They gotta understand that it's my decision and I've got to go.You shouldn't be disappointed that I'm leaving. Life is going on. I want to thank everyone who has supported me. Eventually the time to go was coming. My time has come. We'll try to make some new MMA stars."

Fedor also refused to rule out a return to fighting, even against Brock Lesnar:
"I'm not promising, but anything is possible."

So it's official fight fans, we can continue to cling to our hopes for the dream mega-fight of 2009 to finally happen, now that both men are shells of what they were only three years ago.

Fedor would own Brock...plain and simple. He's a mixed martial artist, period. Brock is a wrestler with meat hooks for hands. Feodr would be able to advantage him while on the ground-submission and really serperate his skills to Brocks standing up. I'd predict a 1 round KO-Fedor.

Please. The only way he beats Brock Lesnar is if Lesnar is in the same form he was against Overeem and that isn't even a gimme for Fedor. Brock would easily put Fedor on his ass. Bigfoot had no problem doing it and pounding the shit out of him. Brock has a lot stronger GNP than Fedor does. Hell, Fedor could barely even get past Brett Rogers for crying out loud and Rogers got him in full mount.

The problem is that Brock isn't the fighter that he was pre-surgery. The Brock Lesnar that was fighting before those surgeries and stomach sickness would have demolished Fedor with ease, and Fedor and his camp knew it. That's exactly why they chose to dodge Brock for more can crushing but the only can that Fedor was even able to take out was Rogers actually, and he almost lost that one.

Fedor beating any top HW is a stretch right now.

Yes, I agree with everything Tex says too.
    Dana White -
If people are tired of seeing fights, I'm fucked!
    Bill Struth -
Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity. No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.
