I said it on another thread a couple of days ago about judging....it needs to be modified for MMA scoring with clear parameters for each area...ie takedowns, do they score for simply the takedown or only score when control is gained or damage done.

I've been screaming it for a while now, guard is a neutral position per the rules. why in hell would a takedown to a neutral position earn you any points. i dont get it.

A takedown to guard should score points....it's a takedown, however, if nothing is done from the fighter on top while he's in the guard, no further points should be awarded.

Another thing, for the life of me are people blind when it comes to Clay Guida?? Jesus Christ, this guy is by far one of the worst fighters in MMA. Why do I hear guys constantly call him this exciting fighter? He is fucking horrible in just about every fight he is in. THe only time his fights are exciting is when someone is kicking the shit out of him and "making him fight." Hell, Dana is actually saying that Guida is usually this ultra aggressive guy who gets in your face and all this stuff. Since when !!?? Who has Guida done that to in years?? He is either leg humping someone for a UD, or he just bounces around and throws quick jabs with no power. He is the ultimate point fighter. God, I don't ever want to see this guy fight again. Put him on the under cards. He has fucked up so many fights I've seen him in. That fight he had against Pettis was horrible. This one was even worse.

Why should a move that takes you from a neutral position into another neutral position score anything? If there is some type of slam, then yeah but none if no damage is done. It's no different that making a fighter switch his stance with a fake, if hither guys are in neutral positions, where is the value.

Because the guy doing the takedown has beaten the guy trying to avoid the takedown. Once that happens points are awarded. Now from that point on it's a neutral position until someone does something....either the top guy doing G n P or the bottom guy doing sub attempts etc...

It's a huge difference from making a guy change his stance...not even a close comparison IMO.
