Steven Seagal “Chael Last Time Had An Extremely Unfair Advantage” Over Anderson Silva

The Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch is just around the corner so its only natural for the inventor of the front kick Steven Seagal to have his say on the rematch. Here’s what he had to say in an interview with The MMA Hour.
Seagal feels Sonnen had an “extremely unfair advantage” in the first bout with Silva and feels this time Silva will defeat Sonnen.

“Chael last time had an extremely unfair advantage. Because, you know, that whole deal with I don’t know what it’s called, steroids, or whatever, performance-enhancing drugs or whatever. … I think this time, probably he’ll be a little more careful with that, and I think that will even the playing field. Let’s just say this, I think this time, they’re both going to be at their best. I don’t think there’s going to be any controversy, I don’t think there’s going to be any injuries. I think two great fighters are going to go out there and have it out, and I think my guy’s going to win. My guy’s going to win handily this time.”

Seagal also gave his opinion on Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones but feels like Lyoto Machida is clearly a better fighter than Jones.

“I respect every fighter that goes out to the Octagon, I don’t think (Jones’) punches or kicks landed well. Do I think he punches or kicks well? No, not at all, and that’s just my opinion. He’s a very big guy, he’s like a heavyweight. He’s 6-4, very athletic and very strong. Is he a better fighter than Lyoto? No. Not even close. But that doesn’t mean he can’t win.”

When asked if a bout between Jones and Anderson would make sense.

“It’s such a huge difference in strength and size and weight. I don’t know what’s fascinating for fans to see. And I said (Jones) is a heavyweight. He said he was going to challenge Junior dos Santos, if he really said that, he should do it. He’s already cleaned out the (light heavyweight) division, there’s no one left to fight him.”

Seagull is a racist and hates white people....anyway Sonnen will still be on his trt but they will be at a bit lower level. This should be a great fight and is the one I anticipate the most in the near future.......not to mention the avatar bets that we have on here.

makes alot of sense. machida a better fighter?? i dont know , this is mma not karate! bones was getting beat on the stand-up then took the fight to the floor and elbowed the fight out of machida then strangled him out. that makes jones a better fighter , regardless of how pretty it is but it's affective!

I dont think he's a better fighter overall either. Hes much bigger and a better wrestler.

Seagal is an idiot. He just wants some limelight shed on him. Didn't he want to be in Jones' corner at one point and Jones said no?

the 1 thing i do agree with , it will be a different fight this time. if sonnen does what he does last time then he is clearly the better fighter.

I'm hoping Chael can pull it off against Silva, but he did look like shit against Mikey.
Even when I'm 100% certain of a fight outcome, I'm only 75% sure... and of that, there's only a 50/50 shot that I'm right.

Huge Sonnen fan as far as his style and technique in the cage. I couldn't care less about all the talk, all the hype, the trash talk, whatever...

Anderson Silva is simply the best that's ever been, the most dangerous guy who's ever competed in the octagon. That has to be qualified by saying when he brings his best, when his head is in the game, and when he's healthy, there's no one like him. Whatever the truth is about his physical condition in the last Silva/Sonnen fight, he staged one of the greatest come-from-behind victories ever seen in the UFC, and won that fight after getting beaten on for four and a half rounds.

This time, I guess we'll see if Silva was really hampered by the supposed rib injury, if his usually outstanding takedown defense will keep him off the bottom, and if he can connect with his usual precision and power in the striking game. Can't see any way that Silva would honestly desire to contest this match on the ground, when he took so much abuse the last time, as Chael is such a dominant wrestler, but neither can we forget the fact that Sonnen hit him hard on the feet as well in the last match-up.

When I analyze the strengths of these two warriors, I keep coming back to the way Silva, with his head movement, footwork, and incredible reflexes, has the ability to make people miss. At his best, he's almost untouchable, and that's why the last fight is still so hard to process, the way that Sonnen was not only able to repeatedly take Silva down, but also to hit him so hard in the stand up. Again, can't imagine that the last fight was some kind of a set-up, that Silva deliberately took all that punishment as some kind of grand overall strategy, so I'm seeing Anderson slipping punches, avoiding shots, evading takedowns, and making Chael pay for all the slights, insults, and perceived disrespect that have transpired since the last fight.

As much as I respect Chael Sonnen, his last outing against Bisping was telling. When Sonnen put away Brian Stann, we were all impressed, but Stann is a bit more of a mono-dimensional fighter, as much as he has tried to up his ground game. Bisping, for all the abuse he takes from the haters, is definitely more well rounded, a guy who has grown in his career as he's honed his craft, and he gave Sonnen all he could handle in a close, hard fought match. I thought Chael clearly won that fight, but my personal opinion is that a healthy, focused Anderson Silva presents a whole other dimension in just about every aspect of MMA when compared to Michael Bisping, and my prediction for Chael Sonnen on July 7 is clear: Pain...
