Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Hougland set for UFC 151

by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jun 18, 2012 at 3:30 pm ET

Bantamweights Takeya Mizugaki (15-7-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Jeff Hougland (10-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will meet at UFC 151.

Sources close to the event today confirmed the matchup to MMAjunkie.com(www.mmajunkie.com). MMAWeekly.com initially reported the bout.

UFC 151 takes place Sept. 1 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. A light heavyweight title bout between champ Jon Jones and challenger Dan Henderson headlines.

The event's main card airs live on pay-per-view while preliminary bouts are expected to air on FX or and Facebook. It's not yet known whether Mizugaki vs. Hougland serves on the main or preliminary card.

Mizugaki is again on the rebound following a split decision loss to Chris Cariaso in his most recent octagon appearance at UFC 144. The Japanese veteran and onetime WEC title challenger has hopscotched between wins and losses in the now-defunct WEC and UFC since making his debut under the Zuffa umbrella at WEC 40. His notable triumphs include Jeff Curran, Rani Yahya, and most recently, Cole Escovedo, whom he dispatched by second-round TKO at UFC 135.

Despite a loss on paper, UFC president Dana White awarded Mizugaki a win bonus for his performance against Cariaso, who won with unanimous 29-28 scores.

"Is it me or did Mizugaki just get screwed by the judges!?" the UFC president wrote after the decision was announced.

Hougland also hopes to get on the right foot after suffering his first UFC setback. The Chicago native was outpointed by Yves Jabouin at "UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirer," which reversed a decision win over Donny Walker at UFC 132.

Even when I'm 100% certain of a fight outcome, I'm only 75% sure... and of that, there's only a 50/50 shot that I'm right.
