Anthony Johnson Moving to Light-Heavyweight After Going 0-0 at Middleweight

It was always a joke that Anthony Johnson competed at welterweight; having to cut over 40 pounds to make your limit isn’t healthy for your body or for fair competition. But in an ironic twist, making middleweight was even harder for Johnson than making 170. He failed miserably in two separate attempts, coming in at 197 pounds (!) for his final UFC fight against Vitor Belfort, and at 194.2 for a “catchweight” match against Dave Branch at Titan FC 22 that was originally scheduled as a middleweight contest.
Rather than risk further humiliation, AJ has decided to go up the ladder again, where he’ll compete even closer to his natural weight, whatever that may be. According to Titan Fighting Championships promoter Joe Kelly, “[Anthony Johnson] has stated that in his next fight, he wants to fight for us at 205 so that’s where the fight will be in July. We’ll see.”
Johnson’s next opponent hasn’t been named yet, but we’re going to be cautiously optimistic here. Johnson’s double-failure in cutting to middleweight was caused by two factors: 1) An ill-advised decision to add more muscle than he had at welterweight, and 2) the physical shutdown of his body during his cut. Surely he’s learned from those painful lessons, and there’s no way Johnson decides to stack on more mass for his new weight class, is there? (IS THERE??) And how long until Titan FC books Johnson vs. Arlovski at heavyweight?

I know he looks like a Heavyweight! He will need to be pretty outstanding to get back in the UFC after his weight issues both before and after leaving the UFC, he'll need to show he's worth the 'risk' again!!!

his last fight was co-headliner so the ufc rate him. if he hit's the scales in 2 or 3 fight on weight and win's 2 of them fight's then they will have him back for sure. just have to see his potential at that weight.

Speaking of monsters, what the fuck is wrong with that dog on the leash he's holding!! It looks like some sort of genetic failure!! It's about time he stopped kidding himself, this is something he should've done a long time ago. Now let's see how he stacks against the 205ers. He might even improve since he's not torturing his body and taxing it so much physically anymore. He'll certainly lose some speed, but I think he'll improve power wise. Only time will tell.

yeah , from what it was it has been sorted out in the past 3 years. forrest has fallen way off the ladder , cane has too , sokoudjou and jardine have been cut. chuck, cotoure & tito retired now nearly! nog hasnt been a contender yet. the dragon has been put to sleep , thiago silva has been outclassed.

fabio moldanado is looking like a real prospect , alexander gustaffson and phil davis look like the future of the division.

It's kind of funny he actually made ww most of the time but couldn't come close to mw at 2 attempts. Good move going to LHW, I always hated the voodoo of guys cutting huge amounts of weight so they can be the "bigger" fighter.
