With Sunday's conclusion of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil," the promotion has announced the full lineup for Saturday's UFC 147 event, including a four-bout "UFC Prelims" special on FX.
Featherweights Rodrigo Damm (9-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Anistavio "Gasparzinho" Medeiros (15-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC), middleweights Francisco "Massaranduba" Drinaldo (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Delson "Pe de Chumbo" Heleno (23-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC), and middleweights Leonardo "Macarrao" Mafra Teixeira (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Thiago de Oliveira Perpetuo (8-1-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) are new additions to the lineup.
John "Macapa" Teixeira (13-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Hugo "Wolverine" Viana (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a bout previously reported by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), also is now official.
Featuring a rematch between Wanderlei Silva and
Rich Franklin, UFC 147 takes place Saturday at Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drummond in Belo Horizonte Brazil. The main card airs on pay-per-view. In addition to the FX-televised preliminary card, two prelims also stream on Facebook.
Damm, a Strikeforce and World Victory Road/Sengoku veteran, earned a submission win in his "TUF: Brazil" elimination-round fight and was coach
Vitor Belfort's fourth of eight picks. He then earned a split-decision win over "Macapa" Teixeira to secure a spot in the tournament's semifinals but was forced to withdraw from the show after suffering from dehydration.
Meanwhile, Medeiros needed a three-round decision to earn his way into the house and ended up as the absolute last of 16 fighters picked for the two teams. Medeiros quickly became the prankster of the house, but he was booted out of the tournament in a quarterfinal matchup with eventual finalist Rony "Jason" Mariano Bezerra.
Drinaldo, who moved up two divisions for a middleweight spot on "TUF: Brazil," scored a first-round TKO victory in his elimination fight and was selected fourth by coach Wanderlei Silva. However, de Oliveira Perpetuo then eliminated him in the quarterfinal round via second-round TKO.
Heleno, a onetime title challenger in the now-defunct International Fight League, earned a unanimous-decision win in his elimination-round fight and was picked second (and as the first 185-pounder) in the ensuing draft. However, Sergio "Serginho" Moraes upset and submitted him in the quarterfinal round.
Mafra Texeira brings an undefeated mark to the cage. He needed three rounds to earn an elimination-round victory and was selected as Silva's eighth and final draft pick. He was paired up with eventual finalist Cezar "Mutante" Ferriera in the quarterfinal round and was ousted via second-round submission.
Perpetuo needed just two rounds to earn his way into the house with a unanimous-decision win and was Belfort's fifth pick. In the quarterfinals, he downed "Massaranduba" with a second-round TKO before falling short in the semifinals, also against Ferriera.
