HOUSTON – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today's "Strikeforce: Houston" official fighter weigh-ins.
Today's festivities, which were free and open to the public, took place at the Toyota Center in Houston, the same venue that hosts Saturday's Showtime-televised event.
The night's four main-card contests were all made official, even though one competitor came in slightly overweight.
Lightweight competitor K.J. Noons weighed in at 156.25 pounds, and though he was willing to shed the additional one-quarter pound, opponent Jorge Gurgel insisted that wasn't necessary.
Also taking part in today's proceedings were Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal and fellow headliner Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante, who each came in more than one pound lighter than allowed.
Tim Kennedyand Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who fight for the middleweight belt recently vacated by Jake Shields, also hit the scales without issue.
