I love the respectful Brock, I hope he stays that way, he's such a baby when it comes to MMA, it's been a blast for me to watch him grow and improve in each and every fight.

Yeah man its been hard to not like the guy as of late. Hes like the boss at the end of a god damn video game.

For sure, the old Duke Nukem games would have a good Brock like ending. But seriously, Brock dug himself a big hole that he's going to have to dig out of. Actually, he doesn't have to dig out of shit, he can be who ever the fuck he wants to be when it comes down to it. But I do think people should at least start to respect him a bit and I would like to think if we continue to see this side of Brock, the hate will fade away also. People forget how classy he was in the Randy win and just focus on the 2nd Mir fight but again, it is what it is. Love him or hate him, people are going to watch him and it's great for the UFC. Just more my sake, being a fan of his, I hope to see the classier side of him.
I think everybody knew Brock's weakness was his stand up so I don't think he was exposed really. The big question I had was could he take a punch. He can and he did from one of hardest hitting HW's in the business. Nobody has taken 5 of Carwin's good shots and Brock survived about 15 of them. And while I'm sure he would hurt, he was never close to being out, as he and Carwin said, Brock is one tough SOB. I do think when they fight again, it's even money but Brock has more than just size IMO, his game is improving every fight. This fight was kinda hard to see that but he was also coming off a long layoff. I think his next real test will be JDS, I just can't see Cain doing anything to Brock.
...and I still don't buy the shit that his fans say about his ability to take a punch.
Any other fighter that would have been on the receiving end of the punishment that Carwin was delivering in such a devastating fashion and the fight would have been stopped.
I mean c'mon man... 77 ground strikes and 47 landed !
Let's be real and not let our fandom cloud our judgment, how many times in the past has a fight been stopped with only a dozen or so strikes that were landed in a similar fashion.
...and yeah, I'm well aware of the counter argument that he was "intelligently" defending himself.
I don't buy that excuse one bit, not when 77 ground strikes were thrown and forty-fuckin-seven got thru !
Nothing that anybody says will ever change my mind about that.
I just watched the fight last night again and he never looked dazed to me. Again, the coverage never really shows his eyes all that much but the Ref had great angles. I don't thing ANY fight should be stopped cause he "Might" be out, make sure they are out. I think Leban was in much worse shape just a few fights before and it wasn't stopped just like the Brock fight should have been stopped IMO. Was he in a bad position, oh hell yeah, we he hurt, oh hell yeah, was he close to going out, NOPE. He stood up, clear legged as soon as he could, listened to the ref, defended (yeah weakly) but still responded to the ref when needed and weathered the storm. It was a hell of a storm, maybe even a cat 5 but a short storm that blew over very quickly. I think Carwin can beat Brock, I actually think he might beat Brock if/when they fight again but he didn't beat Brock at UFC 116, he only "almost" beat Brock. But like Carwin said, he's champ for a reason.

I understand the argument that's been made in this regard and the argument is somewhat valid except when contrasted with the fact that this was a precedent setting situation, as there's NO fight in MMA history where any fighter was provided that much leeway.
I think Nog was in a lot worse shape in the Herring fight than Brock was in the Carwin fight but I will have to think about that one for a bit. Well, the last Duffee fight, he was killing the guy, I'm guessing he must have landed well over 40 punches and it wasn't close to being stopped. Kenny landed a crazy amount of shots on Gomi and it wasn't stopped. While the last 2 were standing, you can just as easily be not defending yourself standing as on your back. But then again, I want my title fights won not decided by a ref or judge. But it's most likely going to just be one of those things we agree to disagree on
