I think this is an awesome feature that they have over at Breakdown
Fights.com, it allows you to pick fighters to compare stats of fighters side-by-side.

Since there's so much talk of a superfight between Jon Jones and Anderson Silva, I set-up these 2 guys in a side-by-side analysis over a 4 year period since Jon Jones has only been fighting in MMA just a little over 4 years.

    Understanding the Stats:

Data only includes fights from the last 4 year(s) with stats in the Fight Metric database.

That means fights in smaller organizations are ignored.

Results are color-coded by how the fighter compares to other fighters in the database: the darker the green the better, the darker the red the worse. High numbers are good in the fighter's column, low numbers are good in the fighter's opponents column.

We don't take a fighter's stats too seriously until they have 3-5 fights in the database.

Breakdowns with fewer than that should be taken with an extra dose of skepticism.

The "level of competition" (bottom of stats) captures how difficult the fighter's opponents have been by showing the total 5-year W/L record of opponents at the time they fought. It's easy to rack up sexy stats when you fight goofs (and vice-verse) so stats should be viewed with the level of competition in mind (read more).

It looks like these numbers favor Jon Jones in this fantasy match-up.

I'd favor Jones in a match up. But I don't see it happening.

Me either. Silva would rather face the almighty Rockhold.

It depends at which weight its at, at 185, I favor silva, Jones would be damn near dead making that weight. @ 195 I think its an even fight, I really don't know who wins. @ 205, I see Jones winning.

I think these stats would look in favour of Anderson much more if just the first Sonnen fight was removed from it!

As for who would win, it would be Jones as I don't think the fight would ever happen at 185, Jones would never be able to make that weight and fight effectively. And at 205/195 Jones would be too much for Anderson.

Good find. Interesting stat's. If they do fight , which will be the biggest match for decades! I have to go with bones jones. Size and a more well rounded game.

Let's be honest here! Silva is getting near to retirement , zuffa should really get this fight in before silva get's beat by another mw or retires. They missed the fedor boat, ruined wand vs chuck for the belt's & cro cop was in against kongo and sanchez for his fierst ufc fight's. Should really have been randy or sylvia at the time.

Evidence of what Anderson said? Thought not.

And Anderson is the GOAT, why isn't Jones challenging his belt going down to 185?

Good point, I'd just assume it would be at 205, but in a catch weight that would be much fairer it would be interesting.

Very arguable, Silva beat guys who beat these "tougher" and "better" opponents. And he actually beat them with ease.

Yea, we've already been through this. No comparison as to who fought better competition throughout their careers.

Right...., because Jones had 4 tough fights, against ex champions who failed to defend their belts.

Come on. Nobody is going to take you seriously around here if you are saying that those "ex champions" aren't some of the best fighters in the UFC. It honestly isn't even close as to who's fought thougher competition. Not even close...

      Quick analysis.

      Forrest beat Rampage, beat Shogun.
      Silva humbled Forrest.
      Hendo beat Shogun.
      Silva beat Hendo.
Evans, argh..... Bisping drew him. Sooner or later Silva will humble Bisping. Or Evans goes down and Silva deals with him himself.
Machida, I give him allot of credit there. But I give more credit to to Franklin at MW.

And Vitor Belfort? He's more significant and better than Evans will ever be.

I agree with you 100%. Anybody who doesn't either A. Doesn't know MMA or B. Has so much love for Silva that they are blinded or C. All of the above.
