View Full Version : World's Strongest Man not afraid of Tim Sylvia -- or a 15-minute fight

"I know what it means to fight three five-minute rounds. I get another new opponent every minute when I spar and I handle that. So if I can deal with five foes in one round, there won't be any problem with only one. Obviously there's a possibility that I will break a leg or pull a tendon. It's occupational hazard, but I don't take it under consideration. I'm not concerned at all. I have a clause in my contract that once I sign it, within 24-hours I will receive certain percent of my purse for this bout. If it's not there, I'm not going anywhere. Listen, I'm not afraid of anyone. I have my next fight on May 7th and another two weeks later, if everything goes as planned I'll face Pawel (Nastula) in September. I do it step by step."

at least he seems to be giving it an honest effort.

For sure, I have no problems with this guy, kinda like Kimbo for me. They seem to be putting in the work and such, that's all I ask.

That guy has friggin HUGE arms! Wow, but yeah if they put in the TRUE hard work that is required to be a fighter then they all have my blessing ( not that my blessing really counts all that much to anyone but me, but hey...WTFE). I hope more big heavyweights come out and work hard and put on exciting fights, that is exactly what MMA needs, a deep Great fighter filled Heavyweight division to really throw this main stream IMO.
Boxing was huge for almost 100 years because of the great heavyweight fighters and legendary fights they had.

I'm definintely on board the Marius bus. Pretty much on the same page as everyone else, if he really trains and puts in the time and effort, I'm interested to watch the results.
Just wondering how he's going to balance his two athletic careers, or if after five wins and last year's second place finish he's thinking of moving away from strongman competition toward doing more MMA. Read somewhere that he was down in weight to something like mid 280's, don't know where that info came from, but he competed in WSM last Fall at all of 315 lbs, so making 265 to fight heavyweight most likely still presents some problems. So far he's doing shows in Europe, where maybe there's action in the super heavyweight division. Marius is pretty well known in Poland, I've seen videos of him on European television, so with a couple wins, who knows, maybe we'll see him in the US some time.

Wow, yeah if he's in the 280's he's doing great. I thought he was in the mid 330's. I'm excited to see him fight again, it's about the only fight that Timmey's been rumored to be in that draws my interest.

Isn't boasting to be the best like James 'I've just eaten a pony' Toney, him and Kimbo are in a similar position, wanting to learn and being respectful of the game!!!

those arms are huge, can you imagine the power he can generate from them shoulders, his jab will rock your brain for 6.im am a fan of his and timmy would be a massive win for him and could earn him a ufc contract, who agree's??
03-19-2010, 09:07 PM
im not gonna go as far as to say a win over "timber" is gonna give him a ufc contract. but i will agree that he has some damn massive arms and could friggin rock you in a heartbeat.

If he does beat Timmey and can make the 265, I say sign him. He looked much, much quicker than I thought and it's an interesting as fuck story. Him against Turk would be just fine to start with.

mah id like to see what else he could do first. timmy is washed up imo. one more decent match and see how he looks at least. then maybe.

Can't Say I Wouldn't Run If He Wanted To Throwdown With Me.

I absolutely do NOT buy the fact that he can last 3 rounds with Timmuh. If the old school Tim comes in with his strong jab and take down defense he's going to wear Pudzilla out very quickly.

the only problem is the last time we saw old school Tim is ah........hold on............during Ray Mercer nope thats not it.........ah.........shit I cant remember

I buy the fact that he's not afraid of Timmayy but i don't really know any fighters or wanna be's that are...
