Says his coach:


Mauricio Ruas’s coach Andre Dida (the Muay Thai specialist and K-1 fighter) has been reponsible for Shogun’s preparation for his upcoming fight against light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida on October 24th.

Dida says, “He is very confident. He’ll face a striker and he is trained for it. It won’t be only a stand-up fight but Mauricio is ready to surprise everybody. Shogun is well-trained. We worked knowing that Lyoto is an athlete who moves very much. We know how this fight will go and have A, B, C and D plans. Shogun will know all the moves from Machida”.

Its Not Like Its Not Possible, No One Has Tested Lyoto Machida's Chin All Shogun Rua Has To Do Is Land A Shot, Hard To Do But Not Impossible.

Don't see it happening myself. If he tries this he opens himself up for a horrible counter punch all the way back from Brazil! Haha!

Shogun has looked eh since he finished surgery recovery. THIS fight will define IF he can hang or not.

I Think The Fight After This Would Determine That OR Not, Losing To The Champ Isn't A Big Deal.

BJ Penn tested it some more than others. I am thinking this plays right into Machida's style. Like Guru said it will set him up for a hard counter that like the ones that knocked out Rashad and Thiago.

Most Likely, And Don't Think For A Second That I Think Shogun Rua Is gonna Win, Machida Is Gonna Knock Him Out. Im Just Saying There Is A Chance Shogun Can Win.
