Thought I'd get some ideas from the board on losing weight with the idea that I'm not in shape but not overweight either. I shouldn't weight dang near $2 but I do, and I'm 5'7". So, first maybe the question is should I even worry about losing weight or am I okay, and second if so, what is a good weight to go down to? I'm thinkin' 175 at the least, but probably 180 to be okay. I'll post my "diet" later on.

In my own experience cutting down on the carbohydrates, try to stick under 3000 calories/day ( average male burns 2800/day if i remember correctly) and run/swim/walk at a low intensity 2-3 a week.

Running/jogging: 2-3 times a week. 5-10km at a nice and easy pace.
Swimming:2-3 times a week.
Walking: 2-3 times a week.

You could pick one (running, swimming) and combine with walking. The walk could be to/from work/school or whatever. You should try to keep going for atleast an hour. The body doesn't start burning fat until after approximately 30 minutes.

This is just a suggestion. I used to run 3 times a week. 2x6km and 1x10km and it worked we'll. I've lost about 4-5 kg's (from 90kg - 85kg) since Januari, pretty decent rate IMO. :P

eat 5 times a day small meals you'll never go hungry and its healthier.
9:00
12:00
3:00
6:00
9:00 (real light).

I had a friend who committed not to eat anything after 6:30 pm and he lost 50 lbs in about 7 months.

Dude, I'm 5'7" and according to body Mass Index, we should be around 160 pds. Anything in the 180's and above would be a concern for heart desease. You should have your cholesteral levels checked because it may give you some incentive to slim down. I did some very simple things to slim down from 185 to 165.

#1 As Woodzula recomended, always eat a light dinner and never eat late.

#2 Walk for 1 hour after dinner and lunch or stay active

#3 No take out or junk food

#4 Eat reasonable size meals and enjoy the food instead of going crazy

I'm 37, so if it worked for me, I'm sure it will work for a younger dude with faster motabolism. Assuming your younger.

What do us with driveway do? I'm not even sure they have a word for driveway in Seoul; maybe it's call the road.

Dude, I'm 27 and I'm real stalky. Here's the thing, I know about the index but I'm from a thicker (not fatter) line of people. I'm pretty strong is what I'm trying to say  . So for me to be 180 would, to me, be fine although I haven't checked cholesterol yet, I know my blood pressure is an issue. And while I've found it isn't caused by the food I eat, that does effect it so I do watch what I eat for the most part, every now and then I don't though. I'll look into the cholesterol and heart disease and call ya back on that one!

I walk about 1/10 of a mile to warm up and then I run anywhere from 2-3 miles a day at a pretty fast pace, then I go through all the machines(snap fitness) and work all my body parts... I work my ass off because I have to in order to even ATTEMPT to win an fight lol... I was told by a proffesional that going 5 minutes in the cage is like running 8 miles, I laughed at him until I had my first fight.. After the first round I was so damn exhausted that I could hardley hold my 4 oz gloves up lol, then after the second round I thought I was dead, Once the third round started I pretty much couldnt feel any part of my body and pretty much lost all awareness I was just basically protecting myself off of instinct and thats about it lol, and the fight went all but 30 seconds of the 3rd round... So if anyone is wondering what kind of commitment it takes here is a good example

Nice work :) Fighting/sparring in the gym/dojo can't realy compare to fighting in a competition/match/tournament.

On the other hand... you'd probably suffer more if you could'nt fight/train at all, hehe.

Have a hot wife or girlfriend just the envious looks from other guys is motivation enough to stay with your workouts. :D

I eat alot of pasta and fish, although I only eat when I feel hungry rather than eating a ton. I burn it off by training and running, usually I'll do 2 or 3 training sessions a week. Each session will first consist of the boxing training session with the boxers, which will be a 13 to 14 rounds work out with a break between each session followed by sparring. Then there will be a 30 minute break while the boxers pack up and the kickboxing club come in to train, at which point I'll get back on it again.

And then if I can handle it I'll have a 3 mile run home while listening to some music.

I drink a bit too much, and I have a tendancy to smoke weed when I drink so I need to pack that in for my cardio.
