Which type/style/school do you belong to and why!?

No school for me but I Wrestled in High School though. I have to say that I think wrestling is the best MMA base to have over any other style for competition in MMA events. There's still something about fighting in general that makes me want to stay off the ground when there's more than one dude around to crack skulls with.

We'll i think a we'll rounded fighter almost always has an advantage. Which style do you think is the best for takedown / dirty boxing?

Uh, I think that Greco Roman still takes that cake, but I like free style for takedowns more. I agree that being well rounded is best, but wrestling is by far the best base over all imho. I can still remember matches where I wanted to punch the dude so hard in the face because of the match and I had both his arms pinned down with one of my arms free!

I wrestled 112 all three years of high school. This is my record;
3 wins - 52 losses
I never made varsity.
when I won my first match (senior year) I got a standing ovation even by the opposing team they knew it was my first win!
Yeah I sucked.
Now you would never ever guess I wrestled 112 because I am 235 now. But that is a muscled 235 :?
I wrestled because my best friend was a state caliber champ guy.
Funny thing is I do pretty good at BJJ now (or used too, bad back :cry: ).

We'll i guess your right. Strikers make horrible grapplers and grapplers make horrible strikers , hehe. I've taken some time off(9 months) from my striking game to work on my ground game. Still do sparr striking and such.
I'm not surprised that your good at BJJ. The few wrestlers i've grappled with were very talented. Haha, we didn't have any kind of organized sports at our school. They don't do the whole "school team" thing in high school here.
I agree , greco roman is probably the best basic with the take down game from free style. Although , aside from the shoot, single legs and variations i like the throws and take downs inspired(or taken directly) from Judo! :)

Thanks I came very close to quitting many times but my dad always always put it in my head that if you give up you lose but if you never give up even while losing you will always win. in sports and in life...

anthony/asugar just stepped out, but I figured I'd say something.
If anyone needs help cutting weight/gaining weight/working out/working on technique when it comes to wrestling, asugar is probably the guy to go to.
He's fucking crazy, and I don't remember the last time he was 100% sober, but when it comes to wrestling, he knows his shit, both from a coach's and a competitor's viewpoint.
